Amaranth u'9s carry on playing well

Spectators of this Garforth Junior League game between Featherstone Flyers FC and Amaranth Crossgates FC had a real treat – it is hard to think of what you could have done to make a more exiting game of football.

End to end football, goals, scrambles in the goalmouth, crossbars rattling – this game had it all!

Both teams started the game strongly, but Amaranth were in front after a couple of minutes. (we really need to wake up as soon as the whistle blows!).

After a slow start Lewis T, Dylan B and Archie P began to push forward and were rewarded with two goals in the first half, with both goals coming from Lewis T, and assist from Archie P.

Featherstone made 2 great plays and got goals back just before halftime.

The boys knew they were in for a tough second half but for a long time Featherstone couldn’t score thanks to some great goal keeping by Big Dylan. There were chances at either end, and the keepers keeping it level for the time being. As both sides were pressing for the winner defences were getting stretched and it was Amaranth who scored next with five minutes to go, Lewis T scored his Third and an absolute worldie of a goal. Great cross by Charlie C and a great first time volley from Lewis T passed the keeper and into the top corner.

It was exciting right to the end .
A great game to watch and play in and the boys did the Amaranth proud with their attitude and commitment. Well done.
