The Juniors

Whilst enjoyment of the game continues to be the main priority for players and officials of Amaranth Football Club, the early trend of success set by these four sides has continued to the present day and the current crop of junior sides are surpassing all that their predecessors achieved.

Junior teams have been established periodically since those first sides in the early to mid nineties as the club has grown beyond all expectations. Each team manager has his own stories of the heroics of his own team.

Jimmy Crampton was another Amaranth manager who transformed his side from a basement side to champions in a very short period. This achievement was even more incredible because the team were given the unwanted team label after the formation of another Amaranth side at the same age group who boasted most of the Leeds City Boys team of the time.

The team finished runner-up in the very memorable 2001/2002 season in which the team were crowned champions. The team itself had several trophy successes under the Amaranth name before disbanding at the end 2002 / 03 season.

Another side to disband at the end of the 2002 / 03 season, was the under 16's. Prior to disbanding the team represented Amaranth at Elland Road in the millennium cup final in 2001/2002 and won the Garforth JFL cup in four years out of five. The original captain of this team went onto to play in the Bradford City youth ranks.

During this time, Mark Shaw, in the 1998 / 99 season, took up the reigns of creating a junior team, this time at Under 8's. This cumulated in their first trophy in the Ullerskelf Tournament. This was just the start for Mark. Through his energy and enjoyment of the game, which shone like a beacon, he attracted several of the present managers and an untold wealth of junior players to the club. At the start of the 2007 / 08 season, Mark had influenced all the junior teams ranging from the current Under 11's to both of the Under 16 teams.
